Valerntine's Day has indeed become very commercial. I remember when I was little, my very much older sister once baked a heart shaped Valentine's cake and put pink icing on it, but I am not sure who it was for as I was quite young at the time. However, the Spirit Of Love is incredibly strong around at Valentine's time and that cannot be denied. It is a wonderful occasion for love spells of all kinds because the source of energy tapped in to is extremely strong, with millions of couples celebrating their love for each other.
Singles need not despair either. if you are looking for a partner from a magick perspective, act as if you already have one. Sleep on one side of the bed only, if you have a double and leave space in your closet for a partner's clothes. Put ornaments together in pairs. Two Mandarin ducks (ornaments) side by side are believed to attract partners by the Chinese. For women, putting a picture of mountains on your wall will help attract a mate as will a water feature containing blue pebbles, according to some well known belief systems. Book a 'date night' and go on your own as if you were going out with a partner.
If you want more than this, some people prefer spirit lovers. A woman recently married a ghost in International waters off the coast of Ireland, which was apparently fully legal. However she has now split up with him. Strange but completely true. Many people also claim to have spirit lovers or have had encounters with them.
